Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf -- Past Events

The Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf is an active group of volunteers that strive to

  • Promote interest and activity in all levels of golf at Pusch Ridge Golf Course, especially for youth and seniors

  • Serve as a liaison to the Town of Oro Valley Council, town staff, and the golf course operators/managers

We fulfill the above by hosting and supporting events, meetings and providing newsletters. Highlights include:

Town of Oro Valley 50th Anniversary Parade (Spring 2024)

A small contingent of Friends walked in the Town of Oro Valley’s 50th Anniversary parade on April 6, 2024. We are one of the 90+ parade participants that included local businesses, dignitaries, high school bands, floats, ‘fancy’ cars, and community service providers. It was fun to be a part of this event as we supported the Town of Oro Valley and commemorate a half-century of history, growth, and community!

Opening Tourney 2023 (Fall 2023)

During this Jimmy Buffet-themed tourney and party, 52 golfers and 30 additional participants celebrated on a gorgeous day. Tropical attire, Hawaiian lei’s, music, margarita’s and awards created an atmosphere of fun, friendship and community. All the awards for golf and the door prizes were donated – thank you for your incredible generosity! The success of our event was truly a team effort. Friends of Pusch Ridge partnered with El Conquistador Golf on all the details. Our volunteers and the El Con Team team worked together on the format, catering, set-up, and clean-up! Find out more here.

Hospitality Open House (Fall 2023)

The Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf and Indigo Golf hosted an “Open House” event for Hospitality Professionals. The event was a way to ‘advertise’ the Pusch Ridge course to local hotel professionals who, in turn, will promote the course to their guests and visitors. Over 40 local hotels, resorts,  management, and front-line employees attended the event. Many of them had never seen the course before, so this was a fantastic opportunity to showcase it as an additional amenity for their customers. Boy, were they impressed! More here.

Cinco De Mayo Tourney (Spring 2023)

152 golfers and 20 volunteers came from Oro Valley, Tucson, Marana and Saddlebrook Ranch. It was truly a community event in which we celebrated the end of the season and had fun on the links. More here

First Tee of Tucson Golf Club Roundup (Spring 2023)
The Friends organized a used golf club and equipment drive to help with First Tee of Tucson’s youth programs throughout the Tucson area. Over the four days, FOPRG took two truckloads, and four SUV loads to First Tee. The ‘haul’ represented about 500 clubs, 50 golf bags, thousands of golf balls, and accessories like hitting nets, pull carts, club covers, and golf shoes. More about this event here.

Super Sports Sunday at Pusch Ridge Golf (Winter 2023)

The Super Sports Sunday included the Super Bowl, the Phoenix Open Waste Management PGA tournament, USTA Jr. Tennis Tournament on the Pusch Ridge tennis courts, and of course a great day of golf right on our own course! Black Top Grill provided a food truck and Oro Valley Girl Scout Troop #157 sold their delicious cookies. Plus the Pro Shop decorated their beverage cart and stocked it with beverages of all kinds. The golf course was super busy with golfers all day and visitors could watch the live tennis tournament or streaming TV programming of the Super Sunday Sports in the Pro Shop. More about this event here.

Halloween Welcome Back Golf Tournament (Fall 2022)

This fun tourney brought 96 golfers and over 30 volunteers together to celebrate the opening of our beautiful Pusch Ridge Golf Course for the 2022 - 2023 season. We had twelve hole sponsors who provided tee-box with goodies, games and enthusiasm. Players could buy tickets for mulligans and a chance to have golf pros, Mark Thesing and Keith Burdette, provide pro-drives on hole #3! To help celebrate the day many clever participants came dressed for Halloween and we conducted an applause-o-meter to determine the winners! Read more about this fun event here.

Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament (Spring 2022)

The Cinco de Mayo tourney saw 52 golfers take to the course! It was a GREAT morning! The Cinco event was an end-of-the-season celebration. Thanks to our Friends, we have much to be grateful for the first season of the reopening of the course! Indigo Golf’s course restoration and incredible team; the Town of Oro Valley’s improvements and partnership with FOPRG; three new and successful leagues; and players of all ages who have enjoyed fast, fun, and affordable golf day after day on this Oro Valley gem! Read more about it here.

Grand Pre-Opening Event (Fall 2021)

The Friends hosted 160 golfers and lunch participants in a fun-filled day on October 30, 2021. There were two scrambles and a western BBQ luncheon.  Event planning began in early spring 2021 and included bi-monthly meetings with the Town of Oro Valley and Indigo Golf representatives. This collaborative event was supported by over 28 event-day volunteers, 30 Partners, and local TV and media coverage. Read more about it here.

Cactus Garden Renovation (Fall 2021)

The Cactus Garden on the 1st tee at Pusch Ridge Golf needed some tender loving care to get it looking awesome for the Grand Opening. So, 15 volunteers worked over two weekends to weed, clear, trim and plant the area. Read more about this event here.

Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble (Fall 2021)

The Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce organized and hosted a golf scramble at Pusch Ridge on December 17, 2021. The Friends of Pusch Ridge participated in the event and helped to promote it to others. Read more about it here.

Practice Nets and Mats Installation (Fall 2021)

The Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf donated and installed two (2) golf practice nets complete with hitting mats to the Town of Oro Valley and the Pusch Ridge Golf course. Read more about them here.
