Audubon Project
Thank you for your desire to contribute to our Audubon project at Pusch Ridge Golf Course. The Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf (FOPRG) undertook this important initiative along with El Conquistador Golf and the Town of Oro Valley over the summer of 2025 with project work scheduled to begin as the course opens in October. The course became a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf with the goal of gaining complete Audubon Certification. In order to do so, the course needs to adopt management practices in each of these 6 areas:
-
Site Assessment & Environmental Planning
-
Wildlife and Habitat Management
-
Chemical Use Reduction and Safety
-
Water Conservation
-
Water Quality Management
-
Outreach and Education
A Resource Advisory Group was formed to lead these efforts. Members include El Con Golf personnel, the director of Oro Valley Parks & Rec, members of the FOPRG board and select volunteers. This group identified specific projects to be undertaken during this initial year. Those projects include but are not limited to:
-
Hosting Golf Tournaments to raise awareness and fundraise for the projects
-
Building owl, bat or bird houses on or around the golf course
-
Putting up signage regarding steps being taken to conserve water
-
Identifying and labeling plants, cacti and trees on the course
-
Building a butterfly garden
-
Creating materials that will solicit volunteers and funding
-
Photographing birds and wildlife on the course to continue building an inventory
These projects take funding. Your tax deductible donation of any amount will help. Thank you for your generosity. If you wish to volunteer your time and effort, please send an email to: puschaudubon@gmail.com.
