Nov. 17, 2021 - In this issue: Pusch Ridge Golf is popular, 10 packs now available to league players, holiday fun for the family, new player survey and hotel and tourism outreach started.
Pusch Ridge Golf Course is Popular!
As of Nov. 17, 2021 the course has been open to the public for 17 days. So far, so good! With the help of the Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf (FOPRG) and affordable pricing, our Pusch Ridge Golf Course is seeing much stronger demand and play than it has seen in years.
Indigo Golf budgeted 6,675 rounds of play for the six-month season, November 1, 2021 through April 30, 2022. That’s an average of around 37 golfers per day. In the first two weeks of operations, the course is averaging over 65 golfers per day. There have been a number of days with over 100 golfers enjoying the course!
Thanks to the FOPRG Leagues and the Quails Women’s Golf League, there are four weekly leagues playing the course. These add a strong base of business. If we are able to keep the interest up, it is possible that the course can enjoy as much play in November and December, 2021 as it did all its last year of operation before closing (November 2019 – March 2020).
New golf carts should arrive in the next week or so. Hopefully the town will secure a liquor license by the end of the year. We will continue to explore ways to enhance the pro-shop, attract more golfers and keep things fun. For those Friends wanting to try golf for the first time, we hope to offer some introductory clinics soon.
Our objective for this year is to demonstrate there is demand and value in the course. If we can achieve our goal of 10,000 rounds for the season, we’ll be in a better position to advocate for turf reduction measures next year so that we can improve water efficiency.
Congratulations to all Friends for your support!
Holidays = Family Time = Play the Pusch!
Why do you play golf? The challenge, the exercise, the social and emotional benefits? Youth and seniors can also realize those rewards, and even more when with family. So, bring the entire family out to play golf at Pusch Ridge – especially after a wonderful holiday meal.
Youth sports has a range of physical, emotional, and interpersonal benefits for children. But sons/daughters/grandchildren do not have to out-run, out-throw, or out-kick their parents/grandparents to win at golf; they simply have to shoot well with respect to their average ability (i.e., their handicap). Golf truly levels the playing field for a family challenge and it’s a rewarding and challenging sport for all ages and abilities!
If it’s the exercise and health benefits you seek, golf at Pusch Ridge is literally a walk in a park with breathtaking views and activity that strengthens the spine and core. Plus, golf keeps the brain fit and releases endorphins, which boosts your mood and well-being.
Need even more incentive? Children under 15 play free with a paying adult after 2 pm. Reserve your tee time at https://www.elcongolf.com/
Hot Off the Press – 10 Packs Available to League Players
As of Sunday November 14, 2021 the three Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf leagues/group can now buy 10 packs at the $22 per round rate! This should speed up the day of league payment process. This also means all three leagues now get the $22 rate regardless of number of players by getting the prepaid cards. 10 packs are available in the pro-shop.
Player Survey
Have you played the Pusch recently? Do you have positive constructive feedback you would like to share? We’ve developed a short survey to gain your input on ways to improve the course and your play experience. Every suggestion is valuable, and it only takes a few minutes!
While we do not have any direct role in golf operations, we will share your feedback with Indigo (golf operator) and OV Town (course owner) and help in any way we can.
Start your survey NOW at https://www.friendsofpuschridgegolf.org/player-survey - THANK YOU!!
Hotel and Tourism Outreach
We are working on resort, hotel, and golf vacation rentals properties to inform them of our new hotel guest special of $45 that includes 9 holes, golf clubs, golf cart, and a sleeve of Callaway golf balls.
We will be meeting with hotel managers, sales and convention/catering depts and front-line employees that interact directly with guests inquiring about golf. We are developing brochure rack cards for the desk area, as well as staff internal fact sheets.
We believe that the hospitality industry and tourism to Oro Valley will be a huge driver of the success of Pusch Ridge Golf Course. If you are interested in helping with this marketing segment, drop us a line at
