In this edition: End of Season Scramble, Shattering Round Goals, Thank You for the Promotion, St. Patrick’s Day Gift, Golf Giggles

Let's Party to Celebrate the End of the Season

We are excited to share that plans are percolating for a year-end celebration the first week of May!

Thanks to all of you, Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf has so much to be grateful for this past season. Three active leagues, involvement in upgrades at the course, record breaking daily rounds and new friendships with golfers from Oro Valley, Marana and Tucson!!

As soon as the date is confirmed (5/4 or 5/5) we will send out an email with sign up instructions. We plan to have two shotguns – one in the morning and one in the afternoon - with a combined lunch in between. Similar to our kick-off event in October 2021.

Stay tuned – as soon as we formalize all the details, we will get the word out!

Remember – Friends don’t let Friends Golf Alone!!

It's Shattered!

Who says golf is in decline? That’s definitely not the case at Pusch Ridge!

Rounds at Pusch Ridge exceeded the last year it was open in the first two months. They met the town’s budget for the year by the end of January. Plus, they exceeded the Friends goal of 10,000 for the season as of this writing. This is also with several days of Disc Golf play instead of traditional golf.

We believe it is possible, with Friends help, to end the first season with more than double the towns budget. With luck we might exceed 14,000 rounds! So keep playing and enjoying this gem of the desert.

Thank You for the Promotion

A huge thank you to Bernie Eaton (Indigo Golf) and Bill Dowdall (FOPRG Board member), who worked together to place this article in the recent Arizona Golf Insider magazine. It can be found on page 11.

Arizona Golf Insider is the official magazine of the Arizona Golf Association (AGA). It is distributed quarterly to about 55,000 active AGA members.

The article reads “Located in the heart of Oro Valley, Pusch Ridge Golf Course offers golfers of all skills a Fast, Fun and Affordable 9-hole golf experience. With stunning views of the Santa Catalina Mountain range, the Pusch Ridge Course is a true gem that delivers a truly memorable experience. Call (520) 500-1250 to book your next tee time.”

With promotions like this, it’s no wonder that the course is doing fabulous!

A Saint Patrick's Day Gift

On March 17th, I had the opportunity to play golf in the Thursday Ladies League (at the Pusch Ridge course) with an incredible lady.

June joined our foursome at the tee-box in her St. Patrick’s Day festive green golf attire. In a quiet – yet confident style – June showed us how to tackle the hardest 9 holes in Arizona! Hole after hole, we were mesmerized by her smooth swing and skills. She was a humble rock star!

On number 9, I told her that we really needed to take her picture for the newsletter. She said – “please go ahead and include my age!! I will be 87 in May…. “ We were all taken back – “What’s your secret, June?” She replied “PLAYING GOLF OF COURSE!”

I cannot wait to get paired with June again…

Golf Giggles

Two golfers are ready to play on the 1st tee as a funeral procession goes by. The first player stops, doffs his cap, and bows his head as the procession passes.

“That was a really nice thing to do,” the second golfer says. “It’s good to see there is still some respect in the world.”

“Well, it’s only right,” the first golfer replies. “I was married to her for 35 years.”
