Pusch Ridge Golf Leagues Are Rocking the Course!

The Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf’s three leagues started on November 2nd with a reunion of the “Prickly Pairs”, a mixed casual group. It was a full house with 44 golfers. This league has 126 registered golfers from Oro Valley, Marana and Tucson. Each golfer contributes $1.00 every week toward the “game-pot” and the winners are celebrated over libations at the Hilton and other local restaurants. We always play a scramble at 3:00 every Wednesday, mix up the foursomes each week and most importantly encourage everyone to have fun, enjoy the scenery and play “no-pressure” golf!

Our Men’s League, the “Javelina’s,” conquers the course every Monday morning with tee times starting at 9:00. They play “real golf” with handicapped flights and opportunities to win some serious cash! The league has 88 members on the roster with room for more. If you would like to join, please click here to go to the Javalinas Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf website to sign up. Once a month, Tony D’Angelo very graciously hauls his grill to the patio and prepares burgers and brats for everyone - an opportunity for camaraderie and swapping golf stories!

Our Ladies League (the Flycatchers) kicked off the season on November 3rd with tee times starting at 9:00. We play every Thursday morning and encourage all levels - no handicaps required. This league is focused on having fun, meeting other women in the local golf community, and NOT worrying about your score! We currently have 107 members, with an average of 30 per week, and have plenty of room for more. If you would like to join in the fun, visit the Flycatchers website to sign up or contact Jeannee Yermakoff at the email below.

League Members can purchase a ten pack of coupons for $240.00. This is a great deal and saves time during check in! There are no league dues or initiation fees.

Thank you, Indigo Sports Golf Team and the Town of Oro Valley and

Throughout the Halloween Day celebration of the Pusch Ridge Golf Course for the 2022-23 season, the Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf were thanked multiple times for their efforts in revitalizing golf on the beautiful Pusch Ridge Golf Course. Kristy Diaz-Trahan, Parks and Recreation Director for the Town of Oro Valley, and members of the Indigo Sports Golf Team praised the efforts of The Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf in ensuring the success of the golf course.

It’s now time to turn the tables and thank the Town of Oro Valley and the Indigo Sports Golf Team!

If you have played the Pusch Ridge course this fall, you are well aware of its excellent condition, especially if you had seen it over the dormant summer months. Indigo Sports Golf Team, the course management company hired by the Town to maintain this course, did an amazing job of bringing the course back to life, thanks to over seeding, proper watering and a lot of TLC. The beautifully groomed golf course, complete with a renovated pro shop, a drink cart, and a stocked cooler greeted golfers as the course re-opened!

THANK YOU, INDIGO GOLF!

The Town of Oro Valley also came through for Pusch Ridge golfers. Planting new trees on holes 5 and 6; removing some unwanted trees and shrubs; adding new chairs on the patio above the pro shop; adding a much-needed porta potty on #6; approving last-minute operational changes that included cleaning up the cactus garden on hole #1 and overseeding the full length of the fairway instead of only part on #4 (in partnership with Indigo and The Friends) were all approved by the Town.

THANK YOU, TOWN OF ORO VALLEY!

The very active board of The Friends of Pusch Ridge Golf is engaged in frequent dialogue with the Town and with Indigo to ensure more citizens of Oro Valley and the golfing community at large enjoy “fast, fun and affordable” golf on the Pusch Ridge Course going forward. They also deserve our heartfelt thanks. Friends’ volunteers John Keeler, Guy Cook, Wayne Holleman and Jack Holmes are devoting personal time each week raking the bunkers and doing divot repair. Thank you to all of our Friends volunteers for your generous support!

It takes a village, and we are part of an amazing village!
